Essential steps to meet U.S. entry rules before you travel.

• Determine whether you need ESTA or a B-2 visa

  Check Visa Waiver Program eligibility (stays ≤90 days) and your passport's country eligibility.

• Apply for ESTA at least 72 hours before travel

  Use the official U.S. government ESTA site and complete the full application.

• Save and print your ESTA approval

  Record the authorization number and screenshot the approval for airline and CBP checks.

• Start a B-2 visa application if ineligible for ESTA

• Check passport validity meets the 6-month rule

  Ensure passport is valid at least 6 months beyond your planned stay.

• Confirm your passport is e-passport compatible
