This checklist helps presenters prepare content, slides, rehearsals, breathing techniques, Q&A readiness, and day-of logistics. It’s for professionals, students, and anyone delivering a talk who wants a reliable, repeatable prep routine.

Progress
0 / 15
  1. Define the presentation objective — State what you want the audience to know or do after your talk.
  2. Draft a one-sentence key message and three supporting points — Keep the message simple and repeatable.
  3. Create a clear structure: opening, body, closing — Outline transitions so the flow feels natural.
  4. Write a strong opening hook — Use a story, surprising fact, or question to grab attention.
  5. Draft a concise closing with a clear takeaway or CTA — Summarize key points and state next steps for the audience.
  6. Design slides with one idea per slide — Limit content and make slides visual support, not a script.
  7. Use visuals and replace text-heavy bullets with images or charts — Choose high-contrast images and clear charts to illustrate points.
  8. Apply consistent fonts, colors, and readable sizes — Aim for 24+pt body text and high contrast for readability.
  9. Finalize slides and export a PDF backup — Save native file and a PDF copy; include slide numbers and notes.
  10. Confirm venue, AV setup, and allotted time with the organizer — Ask about mic type, projection, adapter needs, and rehearsal slot.
  11. Rehearse the full talk aloud with slides (timed) — Record or watch yourself to spot pacing and filler words.
  12. Time the talk and trim content to finish within the slot — Aim to end ~2 minutes early to allow for overruns or transitions.
  13. Practice breathing, vocal warm-ups, and purposeful pauses — Use diaphragmatic breaths and pause to emphasize key points.
  14. Prepare and rehearse answers to likely audience questions — Draft concise responses to 6–10 expected questions.
  15. Create backup files on USB and a cloud link and bring adapters — Include PDF, native slides, and a link you can open from another device.
