  1. Inspect kit container for damage and dryness — Check cracks, broken latches, and signs of water damage.
  2. Confirm kit is stored in a known, accessible location — Make sure family or coworkers know where it is kept.
  3. Count and restock adhesive bandages (plasters) — Include small, medium, and large sizes as needed.
  4. Inspect sterile gauze pads and dressings — Replace any pads that are opened, damp, or expired.
  5. Check medical adhesive tape supply
  6. Check antiseptic wipes and topical antiseptic — Replace used or expired antiseptic items.
  7. Verify roller bandages and triangular sling are present — Include safety pins or clips for securing slings.
  8. Confirm at least two pairs of disposable sterile gloves — Keep a mix of sizes if possible for different users.
  9. Ensure scissors and tweezers are clean and functional — Test that scissors cut and tweezers grip; clean before storing.
  10. Verify burn gel and burn dressings are included and unexpired — Check single-use sachets or tube seal dates.
  11. Check emergency foil (space) blanket for tears
  12. Ensure a CPR face shield or mask is in the kit — Single-use shields reduce direct contact during rescue breaths.
  13. Check instant cold pack and safety pins — Replace activated cold packs and lost pins.
  14. Review expiry dates on medicines and single-use items; remove expired items
  15. Update the kit log with items used and next restock date — Note quantities used and target refill date for each item.
  16. Wipe interior of kit, reorganize contents, and reseal packaging — Use a clean, dry cloth and return items to organized trays.
