Assemble, calibrate, and validate your 3D printer for reliable prints.

Inspect and inventory all components
Verify belts, screws, electronics, hotend, motors, and tools against packing list.

Assemble frame and loosely align extrusions
Follow manual; keep fasteners loose until alignment is confirmed.

Tighten frame fasteners to firm torque
Tighten sequentially to avoid twisting; don't overtighten plastic parts.

Install bed, gantry, and motion assemblies
Mount the bed, lead screws, rods, and X/Y carriages per instructions.

Check and set belt tension
Aim for a firm but not drum-tight tension for smooth motion.

Adjust X-axis belt tension
Use a tension gauge or manual feel; tighten evenly at both ends.

Adjust Y-axis belt tension
Avoid uneven tension that causes layer shifting or ghosting.

Mount extruder, Bowden/PTFE tube, and filament path
Ensure smooth filament route and secure fittings to prevent slipping.

Level the print bed (manual tramming)
Home axes, use a feeler or paper to set even gap at all corners and center.

Calibrate Z-offset for proper first layer height
Fine-tune Z so the nozzle squashes filament slightly on the bed.

Calibrate extruder steps (E-steps)
Mark filament, command extrusion, measure actual vs expected, adjust steps/mm.

Load filament and prime the nozzle
Heat to print temp, purge until filament flows cleanly, check for jams.

Run a first layer test print
Print a single-layer square or skirt and observe adhesion and extrusion width.

Print a temperature tower and assess filament temps
Identify the best printing temperature for your filament and note it.

Tune slicer profile and re-slice a test part
Adjust temps, speeds, retraction and reprint a calibration model.

Save and document final firmware and slicer settings
Export profiles, note E-steps, Z-offset, and recommended temps for future use.
