  12. Ask specialists for detailed written quotes — Request scope, materials, timelines, exclusions and references from 2–3 contractors.
  13. Compare internal vs external tanking and note pros/cons — Evaluate cost, disruption, access needs, lifespan and finish options.
  14. Evaluate sump and pump option including backups — Check power supply, battery backup, discharge route and maintenance needs.
  15. Verify building regulations, permits, and required certificates — Contact local authority about approvals, electrician sign-off and completion certificates.
  16. Collect and store contractor warranties, guarantees, and insurance details — Get written warranty length, exclusions, insurer contact and proof of liability cover.
