  1. Apply for Indian e‑Visa online — Use the official government site; apply several weeks ahead and follow photo/spec guidelines.
  2. Save and print e‑Visa confirmation and receipts — Keep PDF, screenshot, and an emailed copy for arrival and airline checks.
  3. Check passport validity and make photocopies — Ensure 6+ months validity and at least two blank pages; scan copies to cloud.
  4. Purchase travel insurance with medical & evacuation cover — Confirm coverage for COVID, hospitalisation and emergency evacuation.
  5. Schedule recommended vaccinations — Get typhoid, hepatitis A & B, and rabies where recommended; consult your clinic.
  6. Pack a traveller's diarrhoea prevention and treatment kit — Include ORS, zinc, loperamide, probiotics; ask your doctor about antibiotics.
  7. Bring water‑safety supplies and plan to use bottled/filtered water only — Use a certified filter bottle or only sealed bottled water; avoid ice from unknown sources.
  8. Plan heat acclimatisation into your itinerary — Schedule easy activities for the first 48 hours; hydrate and avoid peak sun.
  9. Pack conservative clothing and temple‑appropriate items — Include garments that cover shoulders and knees; bring a scarf or shawl for temples.
  10. Book major train journeys via IRCTC or authorised resellers — Reserve long-distance trains early, especially during peak season and festivals.
  11. Create and verify an IRCTC account — Register with a working mobile number and complete ID verification for e‑tickets.
  12. Save PNRs and e‑tickets offline and print important tickets — Take screenshots and print key tickets for long journeys and transfers.
  13. Secure luggage and valuables before travel — Use TSA‑style locks, luggage straps, and a money belt for passports/cash.
  14. Prepare digital and physical copies of important documents — Include passport, e‑visa, insurance, emergency contacts, and medication list.
  15. Pack adapters, a portable charger, and arrange local SIM/eSIM — Bring Type C/D/M adapters and a power bank; buy SIM or enable eSIM on arrival.
